Audit Executive – Senior Internal Audit Leader

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Audit Executive to provide independent oversight and strategic direction for a leading South African manufacturer. Reporting to the Internal Audit Director, you will shape the group‑wide audit strategy, embed data‑driven assurance, and safeguard assets and reputation across a national footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the formulation of the group‑wide audit strategy and annual plans aligned with strategic objectives.
• Promote and monitor internal control effectiveness at both strategic and operational levels.
• Lead the integration of technology‑enabled auditing, using data analytics and Power BI for enhanced insight and continuous monitoring.
• Coordinate combined assurance activities with Risk, Compliance, and External Audit teams.
• Oversee the production of clear audit reports and executive summaries for Board and Audit Committee reviews.
• Manage anonymous reporting channels, conduct initial fraud investigations, and liaise with outsourced fraud assessors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Risk Management (NQF Level 8 Post‑Graduate Diploma or Honours preferred).
• Chartered Accountant (CA SA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification.
• Minimum 8 years internal audit experience post‑articles, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.

Required skills

• IT General Controls (ITGCs) and Application Controls.
• Data Analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
• Audit reporting and presentation to senior governance bodies.
