Attorney – Labor & Employment Law

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Attorney to join our Hermanus office on a full‑time basis. The successful candidate will independently manage a diverse caseload, providing practical legal advice and representation to our local individuals and businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct client consultations and assess legal needs.
• Draft legal opinions, contracts, pleadings and other documentation.
• Research legislation, case law and precedents to support client matters.
• Advise on labour and employment issues, including drafting employment documents and representing clients in disputes.
• Negotiate settlements, mediations and alternative dispute resolutions.
• Attend mediations, court or tribunal hearings and maintain accurate case files.
• Collaborate with colleagues on complex matters and contribute to strategic discussions.

Required profile

• LLB (or equivalent) and admission as an Attorney in South Africa, in good standing.
• Strong foundation in law with the ability to manage a varied caseload.
• Experience in labour and employment law, litigation or related practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, drafting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to attend external appointments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
• Competence with legal practice management tools and standard office software.
