Assistant Store Manager - Clicks Kathu

About the role

Clicks Group is looking for an Assistant Store Manager for its Kathu store in the Northern Cape. The successful candidate reports to the Store Manager and supports the efficient operation of the store and service excellence by driving sales and building customer loyalty to meet sales, profit and compliance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and maximise sales through promotional activities, cross-selling and up-selling, and deliver superior customer service across the store team.
• Run operational activities such as expenses, stock management, shrinkage, housekeeping and administration.
• Carry out in-store visual merchandising so presentation and promotional standards match the brand image.
• Support the Store Manager in motivating staff, managing them in the Store Manager's absence and keeping the daily work schedule aligned with the Group's labour policy.
• Run customer service initiatives that drive loyalty and club card participation targets.
• Handle administrative duties, including weekly time and attendance and employee records submitted to HR.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Maths 50%, English 50%).
• Relevant retail or business management qualification (external applicants); a degree in a related field is desirable.
• At least 1 year in an assistant store management role in a retail or FMCG environment, or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
• Experience in financial management (budgets, P&L statements, financial ratios).

• Financial management principles, merchandising and promotions knowledge, and stock, cost, risk and compliance procedures.
• Labour legislation and IR practices, people management and competency-based interviewing.
• Numeracy, planning and organising, problem solving, computer literacy and good communication.
