Assistant Operator – Packing Department

About the role

The Assistant Operator is a key contributor to the efficient and safe operation of the packing department. The role ensures that products are packed accurately, production targets are met, and food safety, quality and health and safety standards are consistently maintained. It suits someone who enjoys hands-on operational work and wants to build a career in a modern food production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support efficient production by completing all startup requirements before production begins.
• Maintain accurate packing weights and product quality standards throughout production.
• Achieve daily production targets while minimising waste and downtime.
• Promote food safety, quality and health and safety compliance at all times.
• Record production information accurately and on time.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to keep operations running smoothly.
• Contribute to a clean, organised and safe workplace through good housekeeping.
• Take part in production improvement discussions and operational meetings.

Required profile

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 or NQF Level 2.
• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role within a packing environment.
