Assistant Officer – Graduate Research Management (1‑year contract)

About the role

The University of the Free State is seeking an Assistant Officer to support the Graduate Research Management (GRM) system on a one‑year contract. The role involves assisting staff and students with system administration, reporting, and training within the Centre for Graduate Support.

Key responsibilities

• Administer progress reports and maintain data on the GRM system.
• Link staff and student records within the system.
• Develop Business Requirements Specifications (BRS) for system enhancements.
• Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and support system troubleshooting.
• Create and update training materials for different user roles.
• Generate regular GRM progress reports and assist with user induction.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or National Vocational Certificate (NQF Level 4).
• At least one year of relevant experience in a higher‑education environment.
• Minimum one year of hands‑on experience with the PeopleSoft Graduate Research Management System, including BRS development and UAT.
• Preferred: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or higher qualification such as a bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma.
