Assistant Head Guide – Safari Operations

About the role

The Assistant Head Guide supports the Safari Manager in daily lodge and field operations, ensuring smooth guest experiences and safe wildlife encounters. This position is based in a remote lodge environment in South Africa and requires flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Safari Manager with day‑to‑day operational tasks.
• Lead guided trails and oversee guest safety during safari activities.
• Coordinate schedules, equipment, and logistics for field teams.
• Maintain high service standards in varying weather conditions.
• Support accommodation, meal, and medical aid services for staff and guests.

Required profile

• South African citizenship.
• Preferably holds Full Trails and Level 2 certification, or equivalent strong experience.
• Fluent English; French language skills are a significant advantage.
• Adaptable, resilient, and comfortable working in remote outdoor settings.
