About the role

The Articles Clerk will support the audit and accounting teams in preparing financial statements, conducting basic financial analysis, and assisting with tax returns. This entry‑level position offers practical experience for candidates aspiring to become Chartered Accountants (CA(SA)) or Professional Accountants (SAIPA).

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of client financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Support audit and assurance engagements by following established procedures and documenting findings.
• Conduct basic financial analysis, identify trends, and provide recommendations under supervision.
• Help prepare and review tax returns, ensuring adherence to relevant tax legislation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date financial records and documentation for efficient reporting.
• Participate in client meetings and presentations, assisting senior staff with explanations of audit findings and recommendations.

Required profile

• Aspiration to qualify as a CA(SA) or SAIPA professional accountant.
• Completed or ongoing accounting degree (honours preferred for CA track).
• No prior work experience required.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, IFRS for SMEs, and ISA auditing standards.

• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
• Competent use of Microsoft Word.
