Area Sales Manager

About the role

The Area Sales Manager leads a team of Business Bankers and sales support staff within a designated region, driving revenue growth, profitability and market expansion for the bank. This role executes the bank’s sales strategy, builds strong client relationships and ensures exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve short‑term, medium‑term and long‑term budget targets and manage team performance.
• Set regional sales objectives, develop sales plans and monitor margin, fee and cost management.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with the bank’s strategy.
• Maintain and deepen relationships with key clients and stakeholders to ensure high satisfaction and loyalty.
• Provide input on deal structuring, credit proposals and product development.
• Oversee credit management and remedial actions for regional bank clients.
• Coach, train and develop the sales team, handling recruitment, performance reviews and succession planning.
• Communicate strategy, expectations and performance metrics to the Business Banking team.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Risk, Finance or a quantitative discipline, supplemented by professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, PRMIA or FIA/FASSA.
• 5‑8 years of experience in a similar banking role, including at least 3 years of management experience.
