Area Manager

About the role

The Area Manager will lead the performance, operations and profitability of several Truworths retail stores across South Africa and Namibia. This senior role combines commercial drive with operational excellence to ensure a consistent, high‑quality customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of multiple store locations.
• Conduct regular store visits to monitor performance, compliance and visual merchandising standards.
• Drive sales growth, profitability and key performance indicators.
• Analyse financial data and implement corrective actions where needed.
• Lead, coach and develop Store Managers, supporting recruitment and performance management.
• Promote a customer‑centric culture and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, legal requirements and health‑and‑safety standards.

Required profile

• Secondary education (or equivalent); a business‑related qualification is advantageous.
• Proven experience managing multiple retail locations or leading multi‑site operations.
• Strong knowledge of retail operations, financial management and performance metrics.
• Leadership and coaching capability with strong commercial acumen.
• Effective communication skills, self‑motivated, resilient and accountable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business systems.
