AML Analyst

About the role

Our client based in Cape Town is looking for an AML Analyst on a contract basis. The role focuses on anti‑money‑laundering compliance, KYC screening and client risk assessments to ensure regulatory standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality assurance checks on AML packs for new and existing clients.
• Conduct KYC/CDD screening, investigations, and client risk assessments.
• Monitor AML systems and dashboards, addressing identified risks.
• Validate client identification and KYC documentation, including ownership and beneficial ownership information.
• Identify, investigate and escalate PEPs, adverse media and high‑risk individuals or entities.
• Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on high‑risk clients and related parties.
• Support client onboarding, termination and exit processes in line with risk requirements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the SIG AML Centre of Excellence on AML initiatives.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Risk Management, Compliance, Law or a related field.
• 2–3 years’ experience in AML, KYC, CDD, compliance or financial services.
• Working knowledge of FAIS, JSE rules and FICA/AML requirements.
• Familiarity with FATCA, POPIA and Regulation 28 is advantageous.
• Experience conducting client due‑diligence, risk assessments and investigations.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (advanced proficiency).
• Experience with AML/KYC systems such as ORMS.
• Experience with AML/KYC systems such as SIRON.
