Advanced Back-End Developer – Node.js & AWS (Contract)

About the role

Our client is looking for an Advanced Back‑End Developer to join the core Software Engineering squad of their global IT Hub. You will build and operate production‑ready serverless Node.js applications on AWS, delivering secure OpenAPI integrations for smart vehicle‑charging solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain event‑driven Node.js micro‑services and OpenAPIs on AWS Lambda.
• Monitor application health and security using AWS CloudWatch and provide 24/7 operational support.
• Automate deployments and infrastructure with CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Share knowledge, coach peers and collaborate with external energy partners within Agile sprints.

Required profile

• 4‑6 years of relevant experience (Advanced level).
• 5+ years of production Node.js development in serverless environments.
• 3+ years hands‑on with AWS serverless services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, S3).
• 3+ years experience in automated testing and Infrastructure as Code.
• South African citizenship or residency preferred; willingness to relocate to Gauteng at own cost.
