Admitted Attorney – Debt Collection & Legal Recoveries

About the role

Eaglerock Property Management, a specialist in sectional title and HOA management, seeks an admitted attorney to own its levy arrears and legal recovery portfolio. The role covers the full debt recovery cycle—from identifying arrears and issuing demands to litigation, settlement, enforcement and final recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Take responsibility for recovering outstanding sectional title and HOA levies, preparing demand letters and negotiating payment arrangements.
• Institute and manage legal proceedings in Magistrates’ and High Courts, drafting summonses, pleadings and liaising with advocates.
• Apply relevant legislation such as STSMA, CSOS, NCA and POPIA to levy recovery and enforcement actions.
• Advise on CSOS applications, attend conciliation and adjudication processes, and support trustees and managing agents with legal guidance.
• Develop and implement recovery strategies, prioritising high‑risk accounts and monitoring performance metrics.
• Maintain accurate legal debt recovery registers, produce regular management reports and ensure timely filing of all documents.
• Brief external attorneys when required, monitor costs and bring suitable matters back in‑house.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent legal qualification and admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Strong experience in debt collection and litigation, including drafting legal correspondence and court documents.
• Solid understanding of civil procedure and relevant community‑scheme legislation (STSMA, CSOS, NCA, POPIA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication, high attention to detail and ability to manage numerous matters simultaneously.
• Results‑driven, assertive yet professional, comfortable dealing with difficult debtors and trustees.
