Admitted Attorney – Commercial & General Litigation

About the role

Our client, a reputable law firm in Bloemfontein, is seeking a motivated Admitted Attorney to join the Commercial and General Litigation Department. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of commercial and general litigation matters, delivering high‑quality client service from inception through to resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage commercial and general litigation matters from start to finalisation.
• Draft, review and amend pleadings, notices, affidavits, agreements and legal opinions.
• Conduct legal research and provide sound advice on commercial and litigation issues.
• Represent clients in Magistrates' Courts and High Courts, preparing for trials, hearings, mediations and settlements.
• Develop litigation strategies, negotiate settlements and ensure compliance with court rules and statutory requirements.
• Maintain accurate case files, manage deadlines and record billing in line with firm policies.
• Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to business development initiatives.

Required profile

• Matric completed and LLB degree.
• Admitted Attorney of the High Court with at least 2 years post‑admission experience.
• Experience in commercial litigation; banking litigation is an advantage.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
