Admission Clerk – Hospital Front Desk

About the role

A vacancy exists for an Admission Clerk at Life Hilton Private Hospital in Johannesburg, reporting to the Admission Supervisor. The role involves managing patient admissions, ensuring smooth admission processes, and allocating theatre beds each morning.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out admission and receptionist duties for the hospital.
• Admit patients onto the Impilo system.
• Receive and handle cash transactions.
• Liaise with medical aids to obtain admission authorisations.
• Adhere to hospital protocols and departmental procedures.
• Accurately record all patient admissions.
• Perform general administration duties, including filing and assisting with billing.
• Operate the hospital switchboard.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Experience in a healthcare environment with people‑management and customer‑service exposure.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour shifts, including night shifts.
• Comprehensive knowledge of admissions procedures.
• Basic understanding of financial principles.
• Computer proficiency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and at short notice.
