Accounts Officer

About the role

The Accounts Officer role at Raft Business Advisory Services is a contract, on‑site position based in Monte Vista, Cape Town. You will manage client accounts, prepare financial statements and support day‑to‑day bookkeeping and reconciliations while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of client accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare and review financial statements and perform regular reconciliations.
• Support compliance with tax submissions (VAT, EMP, ITR) and other regulatory reporting.
• Communicate with clients, address inquiries and provide high‑quality customer service.
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve account‑related issues and contribute to process improvements.
• Assist the advisory team with financial analyses and reporting as needed.

Required profile

• Relevant diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of practical accounting experience in an accounting firm.
• Strong analytical, communication and customer‑service skills.
• Attention to detail, organizational ability and capacity to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously.
• Experience with SARS tax submissions and advisory environments is an added benefit.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Pastel accounting software.
• Advanced Excel skills (MS Office).
