Accountant – US Clients (Port Elizabeth)

About the role

Our client, a growing outsourced accounting firm in Port Elizabeth, is looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to serve U.S.‑based clients. The role involves full‑cycle accounting, compliance with US GAAP, and regular communication with clients across different time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily bookkeeping tasks, including bank and credit‑card reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and month‑end/year‑end closings.
• Handle inventory, fixed‑asset, equity, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and cash‑flow analyses.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and IRS regulations, including preparation of 1099s and W‑9s.
• Communicate directly with U.S. clients via email and video calls.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve processes and client service.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2‑3 years of accounting experience, preferably serving U.S. clients.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online/Desktop).
• Experience using Xero.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
