Accountant – Tax & Financial Reporting (SAIPA/SAICA qualified)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified accountant to join our team, focusing on taxation, financial statement preparation, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have completed or be close to completing their SAIPA or SAICA articles and possess strong exposure to tax planning and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accounting, bookkeeping, tax, and financial tasks using Draftworx and Excel.
• Compile financial statements for companies, trusts, and individuals.
• Gather and verify year‑end information from a portfolio of doctors, including trial balances, creditor and debtor statements, petty cash, bank statements, and VAT returns.
• Set up new Draftworx folders, import trial balances, and process year‑end journals.
• Calculate depreciation, wear‑and‑tear allowances, deferred tax, and tax payable.
• Reconcile debtors, creditors, bank accounts, VAT, payroll, and bond statements.
• Manage payroll, tax, and filing clerks and support accounting queries.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of article experience at an accounting firm (SAIPA/SAICA clerk).
• Qualified accountant (SAIPA/SAICA registered) with completed articles.
• B.Com Accounting degree or equivalent; Independent Reviewer qualification is a plus.
• Strong exposure to taxation, including tax planning and compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Draftworx.
• Experience with Pastel accounting software.
• Payroll processing knowledge.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with SARS e‑filing.
