Accountant – Manufacturing, Remote (Johannesburg)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to support a fast‑paced manufacturing organisation. The role is primarily remote, with occasional team meetings in Johannesburg/Centurion, and involves managing payroll, statutory submissions, and multi‑entity accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounting transactions up to trial balance.
• Run payroll using Sage Payroll Professional.
• Prepare and submit statutory returns (VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, provisional tax, income tax).
• Compile audit schedules, asset registers and leave provisions.
• Assist auditors during audit periods and respond to queries.
• Verify payments via Standard Bank Business Online and perform supplier reconciliations.
• Complete VAT and inventory reconciliations on Microsoft systems.
• Maintain inventory records and manage ROE, UIF declarations and claims.
• Support preparation of management accounts, including income statements and cash‑flow statements.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting degree.
• 5‑6 years of accounting experience (non‑senior role).
• Experience in a manufacturing environment handling stock, raw materials or bills of materials.
• Proven ability to work independently from home and manage time effectively.
• Strong numerical accuracy, logical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Stable track record of delivering under pressure in a fast‑paced setting.
