Accountant – General Accounting & Client Services

About the role

The accountant will manage general accounting duties, ensure accurate financial information, and support finance operations while providing client‑focused service.

Key responsibilities

• Process creditor payments, upload journals, and execute month‑end accounting tasks.
• Perform VAT reconciliations and submit VAT returns.
• Prepare monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations and support financial reporting.
• Identify and implement financial control improvements and optimisation opportunities.
• Assist with audit processes and resolve audit queries.
• Handle financial aspects of contracts and verify commitments.
• Respond to internal client queries, escalations, and provide expert advice.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and meet service level agreements.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent (essential).
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience (essential).
• Degree or Diploma in Financial Management, Accounting or related field (desirable).

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Experience with Pastel Accounting software.
• Understanding of internal finance processes and controls.
• Knowledge of financial transaction systems and VAT procedures.
