Accountant – Finance Department

About the role

The Accountant will manage financial records for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance with IFRS, and delivering timely financial reports. The role supports cost accounting, inventory management, inter‑company billing and provides monthly management accounts and analysis to aid business decisions for new ventures.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with IFRS.
• Process and reconcile invoices, payments, receipts and bank statements.
• Prepare monthly management accounts with detailed variance analysis and annual financial statements.
• Assist budgeting and forecasting, including working capital and cash‑flow projections.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage inventory accounting, conduct monthly stock reconciliations, costing and valuation.
• Ensure tax compliance and prepare VAT and other statutory returns.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
• Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances and improvement opportunities.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Lead bookkeeping staff to ensure accurate monthly processing.
• Identify and implement process improvement and automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional certification such as SAIPA, SAIBA or CIMA preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience in accounting, including inventory and management accounts.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage staff.

Required skills

• IFRS accounting standards.
• Inventory accounting methods (FIFO, weighted average).
• Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
