About the role
We are seeking an Accountant to join a well‑established engineering and construction business in Johannesburg. The role is hands‑on and detail‑driven, supporting the finance function that underpins operational success.
Key responsibilities
- Manage month‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
- Process inter‑company transactions and ensure general ledger accuracy.
- Maintain fixed‑asset registers, calculate depreciation and prepare balance‑sheet schedules.
- Prepare VAT returns, tax reconciliations and other statutory submissions.
- Oversee debtor and creditor accounts and assist with audit requirements.
Required profile
- BCom in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in a commercial environment.
- SAICA or SAIPA articles completed; CIMA qualification is an advantage.
- Proficiency with Pastel Accounting and/or Xero.
