Accountant – Client Portfolio Management

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Accountant to join GCO Partners, a Talent‑as‑a‑Service firm. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients, own the monthly accounting cycle across multiple entities and ensure timely statutory filings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients in a deadline‑driven environment
• Process bank transactions and post journals as required
• Prepare monthly management accounts
• Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes
• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and other statutory submissions
• Draft financial statements and maintain supporting schedules
• Extract supporting information from relevant systems and portals
• Balance multiple client deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accounting practice
• Strong hands‑on accounting experience across multiple clients or entities
• Exposure to management accounts, VAT, PAYE, reconciliations and financial‑statement drafting
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive working style
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients
• Confidence working independently while collaborating with a wider team
• Ownership of output from processing through to reporting
• Practical, solutions‑focused approach to accounting work
• SAIPA or CIMA pathway exposure is an advantage
