Account Manager – Accounting firm (Sandton)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Account Manager to join a fast‑growing accounting firm located in Sandton. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of clients, leading a small team of trainees and a bookkeeper, and ensuring all accounting and statutory work is delivered accurately and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain direct relationships with 20+ clients per month, understanding their businesses and meeting their expectations.
• Build, supervise and allocate work to a team of SAIPA trainees and a bookkeeper, reviewing and signing off completed work.
• Oversee statutory submissions and ensure compliance with South African tax regulations.
• Perform hands‑on accounting tasks when required, covering a range of 15–30 active client accounts.

Required profile

• Accounting degree (minimum requirement).
• Completed SAIPA or CIMA articles (non‑negotiable).
• At least 2 years post‑articles experience, preferably in an accounting firm.
• Experience handling a portfolio of 20+ clients per month and managing 15–30 concurrent accounts.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build professional client relationships.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
• Knowledge of SARS tax compliance.
• Familiarity with Dext and HubDocs for document management.

What we offer

• Salary range R30,000 – R55,000 per month, dependent on experience and qualifications.
