Accessible Transport Driver

About the role

The Department of Student Services and Development seeks an Accessible Transport Driver to provide safe, reliable and dignified transport for students with disabilities. This permanent position supports the university’s commitment to equity, inclusion and student success.

Key responsibilities

• Operate campus vehicles to transport students with disabilities to academic, residential, social and co‑curricular activities.
• Use wheelchair restraints, ramps and other accessibility equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean driving record and ensure vehicle compliance with safety standards.
• Provide basic first‑aid assistance when required.
• Coordinate schedules with student services staff and report any incidents.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Valid Code 08 driver’s licence (Code 10 preferred) and a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• At least 6 months of passenger‑transport driving experience; experience with students or persons with disabilities is essential.
• Valid First Aid Level 1 certificate.
• Ability to operate wheelchair restraints, ramps and related equipment.
