200,000 Youth Jobs in Education – BEEI Phase V

About the role

The Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) Phase V creates temporary six‑month positions for South African youth aged 18‑34 in schools across the nine provinces. Participants receive a stipend of R4,000 per month (R30,000 total) while supporting the delivery of quality education.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers with curriculum delivery, lesson planning and tutoring as a Curriculum Assistant.
• Provide emotional and psychological support to learners as a Care and Support Assistant.
• Support teachers with ICT tools, digital learning platforms and classroom technology as an e‑Cadre.
• Promote literacy by helping students improve reading and comprehension as a Reading Champion.

Required profile

• Age between 18 and 34 (must not turn 35 before March 2026).
• Resident within 5 km of the school, with preference for rural locations.
• Hold NQF Level 6 or 7 qualifications; NEET status (not in education, employment or training).
• Valid South African ID and a Police Clearance Certificate; no criminal record.
• Not related to current school staff members.

Required skills

• Basic ICT support skills.
• Ability to assist with curriculum materials and tutoring.
