Workshop Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Workshop Technician to join a leading heavy‑machinery service provider in Johannesburg. The role involves maintaining and repairing a range of industrial equipment to ensure maximum uptime for our clients in the container handling, material handling and mining sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults on heavy equipment such as forklifts and reach stackers.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing to keep machines operating at peak performance.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify technical issues and complete accurate job cards, reports and parts requisitions.
• Maintain workshop safety, cleanliness and compliance with quality standards.
• Work independently under pressure to meet turnaround time requirements.

Required profile

• Trade Test Certificate (Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter or equivalent) – essential.
• 3‑5 years’ experience in a heavy‑machinery or workshop environment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines and electrical systems.
• Experience with forklifts, reach stackers or similar equipment is advantageous.
