Workshop Manager – Heavy Vehicle Fleet (Eloff, Mpumalanga)

About the role

Our client, a leading transport and logistics company in South Africa’s bulk haulage sector, is looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to lead a high‑performing technical workshop. The role is based in Eloff, Mpumalanga and is responsible for keeping a large fleet of heavy commercial vehicles operational and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all workshop activities to maximise fleet availability.
• Plan, schedule and monitor preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Supervise, mentor and develop mechanics, artisans and apprentices.
• Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
• Monitor workshop productivity, turnaround times and stock levels.
• Ensure vehicles are road‑worthy and meet legal and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical support to Operations and Fleet Management teams.
• Monitor fuel efficiency, tyre management and component life.
• Enforce health, safety, environmental and company policies.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a heavy commercial vehicle workshop.
• At least 3 years in a Workshop Manager or supervisory role.
• Hands‑on experience with PBS trucks, side‑tippers, heavy commercial trailers, Afrit and PRBB side‑tipper trailers.
• Strong background in preventative maintenance.
