Workshop Assistant - Electrical

About the role

Rand Water is seeking a dedicated Workshop Assistant to join the Electrical Department at their Zwartkopjes site. Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, the successful candidate will support artisans and supervisors in maintaining electrical equipment to ensure plant efficiency and continuous water supply.

Key responsibilities

• Assist artisans in maintaining electrical equipment, performing minor plant installations, and laying new cables (including trenching, strapping, and rack installation).
• Repair damaged electrical equipment such as geysers, stoves, heaters, and ovens, and replace faulty plugs, lights, and isolators.
• Test low‑voltage cables, motors, and electrical equipment while conducting cable joints and fault finding.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping, collect spares from stores and suppliers, and adhere strictly to OHS Act regulations and safety standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / N3 certificate alongside an NQF Level 4 Electrical Engineering certificate.
• At least 2 years of practical working experience in the electrical field.
• Valid Code EB or C1 driver’s licence with the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 driving test.
• A formal Trade Test certificate is an advantage.
