About the role

Windmeul Cellar, situated on the northern slopes of Paarl Mountain, is seeking a dedicated Winemaker to join its dynamic production team. The role offers the opportunity to lead winemaking processes, ensure quality, and manage both product and personnel within a renowned South African winery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all winemaking activities from grape processing to bottling.
• Conduct quality control and ensure compliance with health, safety, and accreditation standards.
• Manage stock of wine and dry goods, including administration and record keeping.
• Supervise personnel, coordinate maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
• Perform wine tasting, represent the cellar externally, and liaise with stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Viticulture, Oenology or a related field.
• 2‑5 years proven experience in the wine industry.
• Mechanical and technical knowledge of winemaking machinery and equipment.
• Strong wine‑tasting abilities.
• Proficiency with Wine MS software and good computer skills.
• Excellent communication in Afrikaans and English.
• Detail‑oriented, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s licence.
