About the role

Johannesburg Water offers a rewarding internship for motivated individuals eager to gain hands‑on experience in the water and sanitation sector. Interns will support projects that ensure clean, safe water for Johannesburg residents while developing professional skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in research and analysis for water and sanitation projects.
• Support implementation of water‑conservation and demand‑management initiatives.
• Help develop and maintain water‑quality monitoring programmes.
• Participate in fieldwork, including water sampling and infrastructure inspections.
• Collect, enter, and analyse data to aid decision‑making.
• Contribute to public awareness campaigns on sustainable water practices.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation as required.
• Collaborate with various departments to gain broad exposure to organisational operations.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a relevant degree such as Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Management, or a related field.
• Strong interest in water, sanitation, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure development.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence.
