Ward Clerk – General ICU

About the role
The Ward Clerk will support the General ICU team at Life Wilgers Hospital by providing essential administrative assistance, ensuring smooth communication between departments and maintaining accurate patient records.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate bookings, patient transport and inter‑departmental liaison.
- Maintain and file patient documentation to minimise medico‑legal risk.
- Attend scheduled meetings and in‑service training sessions.
- Uphold safety standards, stay current with emergency protocols and ensure a safe environment on the unit.
- Deliver friendly, professional service to patients, visitors and colleagues.
Required profile
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
- General administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Strong attention to detail and result‑oriented mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and focus on continuous improvement.
Required skills
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
