About the role
The Ward Administrator provides essential secretarial support within the Critical Care Unit (CCU) and High Care ward. Based in Kimberley, the incumbent welcomes patients, visitors and doctors, ensuring smooth administrative operations and a positive first impression.
Key responsibilities
- Answer telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner.
- Record all new admissions on the patient name board with accurate time and date.
- Distribute ward information forms to patients upon arrival.
- Maintain bulletin board stickers and ensure proper documentation.
- Coordinate patient transfers between wards, confirming arrangements with receiving units.
- Process discharges only after receiving written consent from the attending doctor.
- Assist with staff shift planning when required.
- Complete and update the monthly learner register.
- Ensure all billing records are current and accurate.
Required profile
- Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4) qualification.
- 2–3 years of experience in a secretarial or hospital administrative role.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to work with standard office software.
