Unit Manager – Maternity (Advanced Midwife)

About the role
The Unit Manager will lead the maternity unit, ensuring safe, cost‑effective, high‑quality patient care in line with clinical governance and evidence‑based practice. You will coordinate capacity building, mentoring, coaching, and training for the multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver safe, cost‑effective patient care aligned with the group’s clinical governance strategy.
- Evaluate patient journeys, stakeholder feedback, and nursing quality indicators.
- Communicate effectively with patients about their care and promote health and wellbeing.
- Ensure infection prevention standards and international precautions are followed.
- Implement group quality initiatives and liaise with public liability on risk incidents.
Required profile
- Relevant nursing qualification with management experience.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
- Compliance with SANC code and applicable health‑care legislation.
- Advanced Midwifery qualification and Nursing Management qualification.
- Experience in a maternity ward environment.
Required skills
- SAP experience (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced computer literacy.
