About the role
The Unit Manager will lead the Emergency Department at Netcare uMhlanga Hospital, ensuring safe, high‑quality nursing care and compliance with professional and ethical standards. This senior nursing role coordinates multidisciplinary teams, drives quality improvement and supports staff development.
Key responsibilities
- Manage financial aspects of the department, including budgeting, cost control, billing and stock management.
- Identify and implement quality improvement initiatives, monitor safety standards and report incidents in line with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee patient care delivery, evaluate clinical outcomes and ensure infection prevention and evidence‑based practice.
- Develop and mentor nursing staff, manage attendance, enforce dress code and facilitate orientation of new personnel.
- Build and maintain relationships with doctors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to support departmental goals.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse qualification (Diploma or BCur) with registration on the South African Nursing Council.
- Minimum two years’ experience in a private hospital setting, preferably in clinical leadership.
- Intermediate computer proficiency and sound financial knowledge to interpret departmental data.
