Unit Manager – Emergency Department

About the role

The Unit Manager will lead the Emergency Department at Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital, ensuring high‑quality nursing care that complies with professional and ethical standards. This role coordinates multidisciplinary quality assurance activities and drives capacity building, mentoring and training for the nursing team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage acuities and skill mix to deliver cost‑effective, high‑quality patient care.
• Oversee departmental budgeting, billing, stock management and purchasing.
• Identify and implement quality‑improvement initiatives and monitor their outcomes.
• Investigate negative incidents, capture data on the Incident Management System and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain equipment, control the asset register and ensure all protocols, policies and relevant Acts are followed.
• Coordinate capacity building, mentoring and training programmes for staff.

Required profile

• Commitment to professional and ethical nursing practice.
• Experience in coordinating capacity building, mentoring and training.
• Ability to manage departmental costs and financial processes.
