UC Engineer – Network & VoIP Specialist

About the role

The UC Engineer will design, document and implement networking and communications solutions for Gijima Holdings in Cape Town. The role covers end‑to‑end planning of voice, video and data services, ensuring secure and reliable delivery to internal and external users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document UC, VoIP, routing and switching architectures aligned with business needs.
• Collaborate with pre‑sales to define competitive networking products and services.
• Provide technical guidance for 2nd‑level fault diagnosis on voice technologies and PABX systems.
• Lead high‑level problem‑management processes following ITIL practices.
• Maintain and support live VoIP production environments, including NEC IS3000, SV and Mitel platforms.
• Perform hardware and server maintenance, LAN administration and firewall configuration (Fortinet).

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in telecommunications service support, delivery or field support.
• Hands‑on experience with PABX, voice gateways (AudioCodes, SBC) and NEC IS3000/3C systems.
• Ability to present complex network concepts to senior management.
• Relevant certifications such as A+, N+, and system‑specific VoIP qualifications are advantageous.
• Formal education: Grade 12 minimum; a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in ICT is a plus.
