About the role
A full-time Mechanic position is advertised in Gqeberha (PE), with pay commensurate with qualification and experience. The successful candidate will service, maintain, inspect and repair vehicles, trucks and trailers, keeping mechanical, electrical and safety systems to a high standard and in line with company, legal and compliance requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect trucks and trailers for safety, wear and compliance
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
- Repair and replace brakes, axles, bearings, suspension systems and couplings
- Diagnose and repair faults such as trailer lights, wiring and the brake system
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and legal requirements
- Attend to breakdowns on the road and follow up on repairs
Required profile
- Experience in trucks and trailers, including semi/drawbar trailers
- Proven experience as a Mechanic (Red Seal)
- Valid Code 8 licence (Code 14 advantageous)
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Awareness of minimising downtime and cost-effective repairs
