Trauma and Emergency Registered Nurse

About the role

Join a leading private hospital in Gauteng as a Trauma and Emergency Registered Nurse. You will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care to critically injured patients in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to trauma and emergency patients in line with hospital policies.
• Perform rapid assessments, triage, and prioritize care based on patient severity.
• Monitor, assess, and manage critically ill or injured patients, responding promptly to clinical changes.
• Initiate emergency interventions within scope of practice and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
• Assist with emergency procedures, trauma resuscitations, and life‑saving interventions.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and other treatments safely.
• Operate and monitor emergency and critical‑care equipment.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and ensure compliance with infection control and quality standards.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions.
• Participate in disaster management, emergency preparedness, and continuous quality improvement.
• Mentor junior staff and support new team members.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Trauma and Emergency Nursing.
• Registered General Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• 2‑3 years experience in a trauma and emergency department.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced emergency setting.

Required skills

• BLS certification (advantageous).
• ACLS certification (advantageous).
