Transport Manager - Mpumalanga

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee the transport and loading fleet that supplies timber to regional markets. The role involves planning, monitoring, and optimizing daily, weekly and monthly logistics operations to meet sales targets while ensuring safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan daily, weekly and monthly transport and loading requirements based on the sales plan.
• Monitor haulage and delivery performance against the schedule and adjust dispatches as needed.
• Assess truck availability, uptime, and depot stock levels to ensure efficient routing and stock rotation.
• Conduct regular route and depot inspections to maintain required standards.
• Collaborate with foresters and roads engineers to plan future route and depot needs.
• Promote safety among transport staff and contractors in line with company safety standards.
• Liaise with DOT/RTMS regarding route conditions and special permits.
• Ensure contracts and agreements are executed efficiently and that fleet optimisation aligns with route leads, depot stocks and mill requirements.
• Prepare and submit operational reports as required.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Logistics, Transport or a related Forestry qualification (Bachelor’s degree advantageous).
• Up to 5 years of relevant experience in transport or logistics management.
• Valid EB (Code 8) driver’s licence.
