About the role
The Dr. AB Xuma Local Municipality is seeking three qualified Traffic Officers to join its Corporate Services Department. This permanent, onsite role involves enforcing road safety laws, managing traffic flow, and supporting the public on the municipality’s roads.
Key responsibilities
- Enforce traffic regulations, issue citations for speeding, reckless driving, illegal parking, and other violations.
- Monitor traffic flow, direct vehicles, and manage intersections to ensure safety.
- Respond to accidents and emergencies, provide first aid, and prepare detailed incident reports.
- Collaborate with provincial authorities, law‑enforcement agencies, and emergency services, and attend court as a witness when required.
Required profile
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
- Valid Code B driving licence.
- Minimum two years of relevant traffic or road‑safety experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for public interaction and reporting.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations professionally.
