Trade Non-Energy Manager - South Africa

About the role

SGS, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is looking for a Trade Non-Energy Manager in Sandton, South Africa. The manager plans, manages, leads and controls the operations of the Natural Resources mineral commodities business, covering steel-making raw materials, non-ferrous concentrates and metals, fertilizers and industrial minerals, and ensures compliance with company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise, lead and control business operations at major South African ports and inland locations, and monitor operational performance.
• Manage revenue and expenses against operational budgets and set annual budget targets with the Business Manager; help set pricing policies.
• Provide technical and sales support, coordinate proposals, handle client complaints and claims, and run monthly management, SLA and client satisfaction meetings.
• Manage accounts receivable and DSO, and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure quality management systems, ISO 9001 and ISO 17020 accreditation, and quality and safety requirements are implemented and maintained.
• Make sure the right people, equipment and tools are available, and keep up with industry trends and research.

Required profile

• Minimum Matric; National Diploma or degree in Quality Management and/or Chemical Engineering.
• 5 years of proven experience in the sector or within the company, sufficient to be recognised through Recognition of Prior Learning.
• Proficiency in English (read, speak, write); other languages are an advantage.

Required skills

• Computer literacy in Word and Excel.
• Working knowledge of ISO 17025.
• Problem solving, planning and organisation, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
