About the role

AFGRI Equipment is offering 40 apprenticeship places for aspiring Tractor and Earthmoving Mechanics across South Africa. The 3‑year programme blends on‑the‑job training, practical workshops, college studies and specialised product training, preparing you for a career in agricultural, construction and earthmoving machinery maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Train as a Tractor or Earthmoving Mechanic.
• Repair and maintain machinery.
• Perform practical workplace training.
• Complete college and technical training modules.
• Attend supplier and product training sessions.
• Assist with stock control activities.
• Support customer service functions.
• Carry out general workplace duties.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Pass in English.
• Pass in Mathematics or Technical Mathematics (Mathematical Literacy not accepted).
• Basic computer literacy.
• Good communication and administrative skills.
• Strong teamwork, attention to detail and deadline‑driven approach.

Required skills

• Engineering / Physical Science knowledge.
• Engineering Graphics & Design.
• Diesel Trade Theory.
• Motor Trade Theory.
