Toolmaker – Metal & Steel Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join our metal and steel manufacturing team in Pretoria. The role involves producing and maintaining a range of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and moulds for our production lines.

Key responsibilities

• Manufacture, repair and modify tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and moulds.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Operate conventional and precision machining equipment, including turning, milling, drilling, grinding and fitting.
• Identify tooling problems and implement effective solutions.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on tooling and equipment.
• Collaborate closely with production and maintenance teams while maintaining a safe, clean and organised work environment.

Required profile

• Qualified Toolmaker with relevant trade certification.
• Experience with high‑pressure die‑cast machines (essential) and mechanical presses (advantage).
• Previous work in a metal/steel manufacturing environment.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Toolmaking and fitting techniques.
• Operation of conventional and CNC machining equipment.
• High‑pressure die‑cast machine operation.
• Mechanical press handling.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Preventative maintenance of tooling and equipment.
