TMM Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced TMM Maintenance Engineer to lead the maintenance programme for trackless mobile machinery on a mineral sands mine construction site in Richards Bay. The role involves planning, coordinating and optimising all maintenance activities for the surface heavy‑earthmoving fleet while ensuring compliance with statutory and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute maintenance strategies for articulated dump trucks, excavators, wheel loaders, tipper trucks, crawler cranes, track‑dozers and auxiliary equipment.
• Ensure strict adherence to the Mine Health and Safety Act and the TMM Mandatory Code of Practice, including implementation of Proximity Detection Systems and Collision Management Systems.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause failure analysis and the preparation of safe operating procedures.
• Manage breakdown response, overhauls, budgeting, asset registers and contractor coordination.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximise fleet reliability and availability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in maintenance planning and reliability engineering for heavy‑earthmoving equipment.
• Strong knowledge of mining safety legislation, especially the Mine Health and Safety Act and TMM Code of Practice.
• Ability to lead technical investigations and produce detailed reports.
• Excellent organisational skills and the capacity to manage multiple contractors and budgets.
