Theatre Scrub Registered Nurse (RN)

About the role

Our client, a leading private healthcare provider, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Professional Nurse (PN) with proven theatre scrub experience to work night shifts on a part‑time basis during September at a private hospital in Cape Town.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, comprehensive peri‑operative nursing care in line with the Scope of Practice.
• Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure patient safety and a positive experience.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks throughout the surgical process.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all nursing interventions.
• Ensure proper charging of all stock and equipment used.

Required profile

• Valid South African Nursing Council (SANC) licence.
• Minimum 6 months of theatre scrub experience.
• Additional qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science is preferred.
• Strong understanding of nursing scope of practice, clinical procedures and relevant legislation.
• Familiarity with BCA bundles, Theatre and CSSD policies, and infection prevention and control (IPC) principles.

Required skills

• Valid SANC licence
• Theatre scrub experience (≥6 months)
• Operating Theatre Nursing Science qualification
• Knowledge of clinical procedures and nursing legislation
• Understanding of BCA bundles
• Familiarity with Theatre and CSSD policies
• Management of surgical equipment and instruments
• Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles
