Technical Sales Representative – Coatings

About the role

We are a well‑established coatings manufacturer based in Modderfontein and are looking for a Technical Sales Representative to grow our Prolong product line in the Pretoria area. The role focuses on expanding sales through retail channels, building strong retailer relationships, and achieving defined turnover and volume targets.

Key responsibilities

• Grow business by meeting and exceeding turnover and litre objectives.
• Promote and sell Prolong products across all suitable retail channels.
• Develop and execute sales action plans for products, brands, geographic areas and channels.
• Maintain regular contact with retailers to discuss stock, performance and issues.
• Build relationships with buyers, department heads and merchandisers.
• Inspect merchandising, POS material and product displays.
• Identify market changes, competitive pressures and new sales opportunities.
• Generate new business, revive lost accounts and upsell/cross‑sell to maximise revenue.
• Ensure correct pricing implementation and rollout of price increases.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customers within the assigned area.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technical sales within the paint or coatings industry.
• Ability to develop and follow sales action plans to achieve targets.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with retailers, buyers and merchandisers.
• Good understanding of pricing strategies and product promotion.
