Technical Product Analyst

About the role

Sanlam Life & Savings is seeking a Technical Product Analyst within BTSS to support delivery across PolicyOps and Fund Admin squads. The role involves translating business requirements into technical specifications, designing APIs, and ensuring high‑quality, scalable solutions in a regulated enterprise environment.

Key responsibilities

• Produce functional decomposition specifications and detailed system documentation such as sequence, activity, use case and data flow diagrams.
• Create and manage user stories, backlog items and related artefacts following Agile delivery practices.
• Map business rules and APIs to stored procedures, including SARS validation rules and third‑party integrations.
• Conduct integration analysis (As‑Is and To‑Be) and ensure designs meet architectural and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Testers and Architects to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in systems analysis, technical product analysis and software delivery, preferably in insurance, financial services or fund administration.
• Proven experience working in Agile teams and delivering high‑quality software solutions.

Required skills

• Strong functional decomposition and system analysis capabilities.
• API mapping to backend services or stored procedures and business rule integration.
• SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Modelling tools: Visio, Draw.io.
• Development tools: Visual Studio Code with GitHub Copilot, GitHub.
• Collaboration tools: Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite.
