Technical Manager (Design/Quality/Production) – Johannesburg

About the role

The Technical Manager will ensure technical integrity and accurate coordination of customer enquiries from quotation through fabrication to delivery. This hands‑on role provides technical leadership across internal sales, design, quality assurance, production and end‑of‑line quality control.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and control technical information, drawings, specifications and processes in line with company strategy and manufacturing requirements.
• Coordinate cross‑functional activities to support product quality, efficient production, reliable delivery and high‑level customer service.
• Oversee technical sales, design office output, quality assurance activities and production‑related tasks.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and certifications such as UL, IEC and ISO.
• Manage frequent changes in priorities within a fast‑moving environment.

Required profile

• 10+ years experience in manufacturing (jobbing) or electrical product environments with strong design and quality exposure.
• Proven background in production settings involving technical sales, QA and design office functions.
• Strong understanding of industrial and electrical components.
• Technical qualification: BEng Engineering, BTech Engineering or ND.
• Ability to handle multiple moving parts and frequent attention switches.

Required skills

• BEng Engineering, BTech Engineering or ND qualification.
• Knowledge of UL certification requirements.
• Familiarity with IEC standards.
• Familiarity with ISO standards.
• Proficiency with CAD/drawing office software.
