Team Leader: Utilities

About the role

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is looking for a Team Leader: Utilities for its Phoenix site in KwaZulu-Natal. The role covers the operation and maintenance of utilities systems such as boilers, compressors, refrigeration and HVAC, asset care planning, team leadership and compliance with statutory and safety regulations. The position is permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation of utility systems (steam, compressed air, chilled water, refrigeration, water treatment) and keep them available for production
• Schedule and lead preventive and corrective maintenance, support the Plant Engineer on condition monitoring and predictive maintenance, and record work in the CMMS
• Supervise and develop the Utilities Operator: Boiler and the Artisan: Utilities, monitor performance, assign tasks and coach the team
• Ensure compliance with the OHS Act, SANS standards and pressure vessel regulations, and support inspections, audits and statutory testing
• Track utility performance KPIs, identify energy, steam and water savings, and take part in root cause analysis
• Coordinate with production, engineering and external contractors, and liaise with environmental and safety officers

Required profile

• N4-N6 certificate in mechanical, electrical or electro-mechanical engineering; a National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred
• Trade test certificate (Millwright, Fitter or Electrician) and a valid Boiler Operating Certificate where applicable
• 3-5 years' experience in utilities or plant maintenance, with prior supervisory or team leadership experience
• Experience in FMCG, food or beverage manufacturing preferred

Required skills

• Boiler systems, compressors, chilled water and HVAC; basic knowledge of water treatment
• CMMS usage (e.g. SAP PM) and maintenance record keeping
• Troubleshooting, root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone) and basic project coordination
• Knowledge of OHS Act, SANS and pressure equipment regulations
• MS Office and Excel for reporting
