T1 Technician – Underground Mining

About the role

The T1 Technician will provide comprehensive technical services to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electronic technology used for health, safety and productivity at the Samancor Mooinooi underground mine. You will install, repair, certify and support electronic products and systems, working closely with site teams and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test, and certify electronic equipment to meet mine specifications and company quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and software updates on electronic systems.
• Troubleshoot faults, determine root causes and implement corrective actions or escalate as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report further requirements.
• Support new projects, operate hand and power tools safely, and ensure housekeeping standards.
• Collaborate with other technicians, supervisors and customers to meet contractual obligations and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum N4 Electrical/Electronics qualification.
• At least 4 years of experience in electronics (hardware and software) and IT (hardware, networks, software).
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
• Strong organisational, problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Electronics hardware knowledge.
• Electronics software troubleshooting.
• IT hardware and network troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge of the Advantage product line.
